Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we moving?

In 2015, NHS England Cheshire and Merseyside, as commissioners of the service, were informed by The Parkhaven Trust that they were serving 6 months’ notice on the building.

Our priority is to provide you with high quality patient care and patient related outcomes, and we therefore needed to identify new premises for which GP services can be delivered from.

 

Where will the new practice be based?

Maghull Health Centre, Westway, Maghull, Liverpool, L31 0DJ

 

Will the practice name remain the same?

Yes, it will continue to be called Maghull Practice.

 

What will be the opening hours of the practice?

The practice will be open between 8am to 6.30pm every day (Monday to Friday).

 

Can I still order my prescriptions in the same way as I do now?

Yes, you will be able to order your prescriptions in exactly the same way as you do now.

A new system has recently been introduced to make it even easier for you to pick up your repeat prescription; it is called the ‘Electronic Prescription Service’. This service is available to you (with your consent being given). It means you can send your prescription from your GP surgery to a Pharmacy of your choice electronically. All you have to do to receive this service is ask your GP.

 

Will my GP and Nurse be moving to Maghull Health Centre?

Yes, all clinicians who work at Maghull Practice will be moving to Maghull Health Centre.

 

Will I still be able to have a home visit?

Yes, you will still be able to have a home visit if this is required.

 

Do I have a choice of staying with the practice or moving to another practice?

You do not have to do anything if you want to stay as a patient with the practice. All of your information and medical records will be safely transferred when we move to the new location. Should you wish to move to another practice then you are free to do so.

 

Will the PPG at Maghull Practice stay the same?

The Patient Participation Groups (PPG) will remain the same and it will provide you with an opportunity to have your say in the way the practice develops.

What do I have to do if I want to transfer to another GP Practice?

You will have to contact the practice you wish to transfer to and complete all the necessary forms/documentation. If the practice you wish to move to agrees to register you as a patient then we will transfer all of your information and medical records to them.

 

Will the telephone number change?

No, the telephone number will remain the same.

 

How far away is Maghull Health Centre from the current location of Parkhaven?

Maghull Health Centre is approximately 0.7 miles away from the existing location at Parkhaven, as a guide it is a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk.

 

Is parking available?

Yes, Maghull Health Centre has a car park with a number of disabled parking bays available.

 

Is there disabled access?

Yes, there is disabled access at the Maghull Centre.
